Happy December everyone!
Remember that yarn I shared a few months ago that I got from a LYS in Asheville, NC? Well, I finally put some of it to use! I used my two skeins of Berroco Ultra Chunky Alpaca (colorway Barley, hence the name of the scarf!) and it was a JOY to work this project up.
Since Ultra Chunky Alpaca is a bulky yarn, it took almost no time at all to crochet this simple infinity scarf. And it’s a blend of Super Fine Alpaca and Peruvian Wool – so it’s the softest scarf on the planet. I’m so happy I decided to make an infinity scarf using it! 🙂
You don’t have to use Berroco to make this, you could use any #5 bulky yarn, but I totally recommend Berroco if it’s in your budget!

Materials Needed:
- Size J10 – 6.00mm crochet hook
- 2 skeins Berroco Ultra Alpaca Chunky in Barley (or whatever color you like!), or any other #5 bulky weight yarn
- Scissors
- Sewing Needle
Gauge:
Hdc/ch sts – 4″ x 4″: 14 sts x 8.8 rows
There are about 1.2 clusters per inch width-wise.
Abbreviations (US):
- ch = chain
- hdc = half double crochet
- st(s) = stitch(es)
- sk = skip
- hdc v st = half double crochet v stitch
Pattern
Ch 22.
Note: Ch 2 before 1st hdc st counts as 1st st of row throughout pattern.
Row 1: Hdc in 4th st from hook. *Sk next st; hdc, ch 1, hdc in next st* Repeat ** until end of row. Ch 2, turn.
Row 2: Hdc in 2nd st from hook. *Sk next st; hdc, ch 1, hdc in ch 1 space* Repeat ** until end of row. Ch 2, turn.
Repeat row 2 until you reach 96 rows total.
Tie off yarn, leaving a tail long enough to seam the ends together. Weave in ends.
