Hi everyone!
Here’s a fun little Valentine’s Day pattern – tiny hearts! You can use them in any Valentine’s Day related craft, or for whatever your tiny heart needs might be.
They take literally 5 minutes to make and turn out so cute! I have a few plans lined up for these little guys coming soon.
Scroll down for the free pattern.
Materials Needed:
- Size 7 – 4.50 mm crochet hook
- Medium weight yarn in any color! I use Redheart Yarn Super Saver in Cherry Red and White and Bernat Baby in Pink
- Scissors
- Yarn needle (optional for weaving in ends)
Finished Size:
From top of heart arch to heart point at the bottom = 2.5″
Abbreviations (US):
- ch = chain
- dc = double crochet
- sc = single crochet
- hdc = half double crochet
- st(s) = stitch(es)
Pattern:
Make a magic loop.
Ch 2. 10 dc in loop. Pull tail to tighten and close loop. (11 sts counting ch 2)
Round 1: Slst into top of ch 2. Slst into next st. Ch 2. In next st, 5 dc. Hdc, sc, sc, then (sc, hdc, sc) in next st. Sc, sc, hdc. 6 dc in next st. Slst into next st.
Tie of yarn and weave in ends.
Step-by-Step Photo Instructions:
1.) Magic loop. Ch 2.
2.) 10 DC in loop, then pull to tighten and close loop.
3.) Your loop should now look like the picture below.
4.) Next, slst into the top of ch 2, slst into the st next to it. Then ch 2.
5.) In the next st, 5 dc. Note: this means 5 DC sts in one st.
6.) Hdc in next st, then sc in the next two sts.
7.) In the next st, sc, hdc, sc. Note: This is all in one st and forms the point at the bottom of the heart.
8.) Sc in next two sts, then hdc.
9.) 6 dc in next st. Note: this means 6 dc sts in one st.
10.) Slst into next st and pull to tighten.
11.) Tie off yarn and weave in ends.
And that’s how you make tiny heart motifs!
I hope you enjoy making these little hearts. Let me know in the comments if you have any questions! 🙂
Happy making!
