Another quick and easy crochet project that’s perfect for markets, gifts, or just something quick and easy to make for yourself: strawberry car coasters! I recently found out about car coasters and have several patterns planned. While I’m fully into spooky season, I realize that it’s still summer and what’s more summery than cute lil strawberries? These take almost no time to make and are great for stash busting. And what’s best is that they add a bit of summery personality to your boring, plain old car cup holders 🙂

Materials Needed:
- Size 4.5 mm crochet hook (I use these and these glitter hooks – they’re awesome!)
- 1 ball each (71g / 2.5 oz, 109 meters / 120 yards) of Lily Sugar N Cream in White (Color A), Green (Color B), Red (Color C), and Yellow (Color D) (or any color you’d like!) or similar worsted weight/weight 4 category yarn
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
Finished Measurements:
About 2.5″
Gauge:
Gauge isn’t super important for this project; you may have to go up or down a hook size to obtain finished measurements.
Pattern Notes:
- The colors can be customized; feel free to choose whatever colors you want!
- These were designed to fit my 2019 Nissan Sentra cup holders, but if you need to make them bigger, just add an additional round to the base.
Stitches Used:
- Single Crochet
- Double Crochet
- Slip Stitch
- Chain
Abbreviations (US):
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- dc = double crochet
- st(s) = stitch(es)
- slst = slip stitch
- rep = repeat
Pattern:
Coaster base:
With white (or color A), magic ring, ch 1, 6 sc in ring. Slst into 1st sc to join. (6 sts)
Round 2: Sc in the same st that the ch 1 came from; 2 sc in each st around, 1 sc in last st. Slst into 1st sc to join. (12 sts)
Round 3: Ch 1. Sc in the same st that the ch 1 came from; 2 sc in each st around, 1 sc in last st. Slst into 1st sc. (24 sts)
Round 4: Ch 1. Sc in the same st that the ch 1 came from; 1 sc in each st around. Slst into 1st sc. (25 sts)
Round 5: Ch 1. Rep round 4. Do not ch 1 at end of round; tie off yarn and weave in ends. (26 sts)
Strawberry:
With red (or color C), magic ring, ch 1, 6 sc in ring, slst into 1st sc to join.
Round 2: Ch 1, sc in same st, 2 sc in each st around to last st, sc in last st, slst to join. (12 sts)
Round 3: Ch 1, sc in same st, 3 sc in next st, sc 4, 2 dc in each of next 2 sts, sc 3, 3 sc in next st, sc, slst to join. Tie off.
Leaves:
With green (or color B), ch 5.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc, slst, *ch 3, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch*, slst into next st, rep ** once, slst into same st, tie off.
Attach strawberry to circle using a tapestry needle and color C. Attach leaves to strawberry and circle using a tapestry needle and color B. I left my leaves unattached and just sewed the stem on – I like that the leaves are more 3D that way!
With a tapestry needle and yellow (or color D), sew seeds onto the strawberry. I sewed about 17 lines to look like seeds but this part is up to your creative discretion 🙂
