Hi everyone! Thanks for checking out the free crochet pattern for the Faux Cable Pillow Cover. Scroll down for the free pattern and design notes!

Another free pillow pattern to share! I had some leftover Redheart Super Saver in Frosty Green from a Grogu (baby Yoda! :)) lovey I made for our niece, and thought it would make the cutest accent for our living room. We just recently took out the carpet and put in new floor, painted the walls a soft gray, and re-arranged, so it seemed appropriate to also add *another* throw pillow to the mix. *shrug* I didn’t choose the throw pillow life, the throw pillow life chose me.

Anyway, this pattern is super easy and consists of a pretty simple pattern repeat to make the faux cables – rows of slip stitches worked in back loops only! Easy, right? I also love a quick pattern (instant gratification, baby), and this one works up super fast thanks to rows of treble crochet stitches.

I also chose to make each side of the cover a bit smaller than the pillow form itself so the stitches would stretch across and fit the pillow form snugly, rather than having gaps and sagging edges.

Materials Needed:

Finished Measurements:

18″ long by 10.5″ wide

Gauge:

4x4in = about 14 sts x 8 rows

Pattern Notes:

  • – Turning chains do not count as stitches throughout the pattern.
  • – If you use a different yarn other than the yarn recommended above, you may have to purchase more or less to complete the pattern. Along those same lines, you may have to move up or down a hook size to meet gauge.

Stitches Used:

  • Half Double Crochet
  • Single Crochet
  • Treble Crochet
  • Chain

Abbreviations (US):

  • ch = chain
  • sc = single crochet
  • hdc = half double crochet
  • tr = treble crochet
  • st(s) = stitch(es)
  • slst = slip stitch
  • blo = back loop only

Pattern:

Make two panels following the pattern below:

Ch 39.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook; sc in each ch across. Ch 3, turn.

Row 2: Tr in blo of 1st st; tr blo in each st across. Ch 1, turn.

Row 3: Slst in blo of 1st st; slst blo in each st across. Ch 3, turn.

Row 4: Tr in blo of 1st st; tr blo in each st across. Ch 1, turn.

Row 5: Slst in blo in 1st st; slst blo in each st across. Ch 1, turn.

Row 6: Hdc in blo of 1st st; hdc blo in each st across. Ch 1, turn.

Row 7: Slst in blo in 1st st; slst blo in each st across. Ch 3, turn.

Repeat rows 2-7 for a total of 40 rows.

Row 41: Sc in 1st st; sc in each st across. Tie off yarn.

Once both panels are made, place wrong sides together and seam the sides using slsts. You can use other methods if you prefer, but I like the look of the raised seam from the slsts.

Seam the long sides and one short edge together, leaving an opening to slip the cover over the pillow form. Once the form is in the cover, seam the final edge together.

Tassels: Make 4 tassels and attach to each corner of the pillow cover. I made chubby tassels, so I wrapped the yarn around my hand about 40-50 times – this part is completely up to you; you can make your tassels longer, thinner, fuller, etc. or none at all! πŸ™‚

As always, I hope you enjoy this pattern! Please feel free to leave any questions in the comments or e-mail me. If you try this pattern, please share it with me on Instagram using #sarahfaithcrafts or tagging me @SarahFaithCrafts.

Happy Making! xoxo
