Materials Needed:

Size 5.0 mm crochet hook (I use these and these glitter hooks – they’re awesome!)
1 skein (198g / 7 oz, 333 meters / 364 yards) of Redheart Super Saver in cream (or color A of your choice), and half skein white (or color b of your choice), oatmeal (or color c of your choice), and black
Fiber Fill
Scissors
Yarn needle

Finished Measurements:

Dress Length: about 11″
Dress Width: about 13″ at bottom, 9.5″ torso middle, and 4″ at neck
Bandages: about 67″ long each, 1/2″ height
Wings: 4″ width at widest point, 2″ at narrowest width, 7.5″ length
Wig: 6.5″ length, about 10″ around filled
- Note: Outfit designed to fit 23″ porch goose.

Gauge:

2″ x 2″: 6 sc sts x 8 rows
4″ x 4″: 12 dc sts x 8 rows
You may have to go up or down a hook size to obtain finished measurements. I recommend maintaining semi-loose/medium tension throughout.

Dress:

Note: ch 2 counts as a st.

With cream (color a), ch 30, slst into 1st ch to join.

Round 1: ch 2, dc in each st around, slst into top of ch 2. (30)
Round 2: ch 2, dc in each st around, slst into top of ch 2. (30)
Round 3: ch 2, dc, 2dc in next st. (Dc 2, 2dc in next st), rep () around, slst into top of ch 2. (40)
Round 4: ch 2, dc in each st around, slst into top of ch 2. (40)
Round 5: ch 2, dc 2, 2dc in next st. (Dc 3, 2dc in next st), rep () around, slst into top of ch 2. (50)
Round 6: ch 2, dc in each st around, slst into top of ch 2. (50)
Round 7: ch 2, dc 3, 2dc in next st. (Dc 4, 2dc in next st), rep () around, slst into top of ch 2. (60)
Round 8-10: ch 2, dc in each st around, slst into top of ch 2. (60)

Make 2.

Using white or color b that matches your goose, make a magic ring.

Round 1: in ring, ch 2, make 12 dc, pull to tighten. Slst into top of ch 2. (12)
Round 2: ch 2, 2dc in each st around, slst into top of ch 2. (24)
Round 3-6: ch 2, dc in each st around, slst into top of ch 2. (24)
Round 7: ch 2, (dc, dc2tog), rep () around to end of round, slst into top of ch 2. (16)
Round 8-10: ch 2, dc in each st around, slst into top of ch 2. (16)
Round 11: ch 2, (dc 2, dc2tog), rep () around to end of round, slst into top of ch 2. (12)
Round 12: ch 2, dc in each st around, slst into top of ch 2. (12)
Round 13: ch 2, dc2tog around, slst into top of ch 2. (6)

Tie off yarn, leaving a medium tail to cinch sts together. Weave in ends.

Flatten wings.

Bandages:

Make 2.

With oatmeal or color c yarn, make a slip knot, ch 202.

Dc in 3rd ch from hook, dc across, tie off yarn.

Wrap bandages around wings as shown below. Sew bandages to wings.

Once the wings have been bandaged, sew them evenly on either side of the dress. Tip – sew them on while the dress is on your goose to make sure they’re even and sit where you prefer them to sit.

Wig:

Note: Chs do not count as a st.

With black, make a magic ring.

Round 1: in ring, ch 1, sc 10, slst into ch 1. Pull to tighten. (10)
Round 2: ch 1, 2 sc in each st around, slst into ch 1. (20)
Round 3: ch 1, sc around, slst into ch 1. (20)
Round 4: ch 1, (sc in next, 2 sc in next), rep () to end of round, slst into ch 1. (30)
Round 5: ch 1, sc around, slst into ch 1. (30)
Round 6: ch 2, dc blo in next 7 sts, switch to white, dc blo in next 3 sts, switch to black, dc blo in next 10 sts, switch to white, dc blo in next 3 sts, switch to black, dc blo in remaining 7 sts, slst into top of ch 2. (30)
Round 7: ch 2, dc in next 7 sts, switch to white, dc in next 3 sts, switch to black, dc in next 10 sts, switch to white, dc in next 3 sts, switch to black, dc in remaining 7 sts, slst into top of ch 2. (30)

Note: Fill wig with fiber fill, before the final round, to desired fullness. Be careful not to over stuff and create gaps.

Round 15: ch 2, dc2tog around, dc in last st, slst into top of ch 2, tie off yarn leaving a tail long enough to cinch remaining sts closed. Cinch closed, weave in ends. (7)

Flip piece upside down and turn it so that the 10 st gap in the front of the wig is facing you.

Using black, make a slip knot, and slst into the front loop of st 23 in round 5, below the last white st of round 5, then follow instructions below:

Round 1: slst in next 4 sts, sc, hdc, 2dc in next st, ch 1, 2dc in next st, hdc, sc, slst in next 5 sts, dc in remaining 14 sts, slst into 1st slst in round. Ch 2, turn. (33)

– switch to rows –

Row 2: sk slst from row below that ch 2 was made in, dc2tog, sc next 10, dc2tog, ch 1, turn. (12)
Row 3: sc across. (12)

Tie off yarn, weave in ends.

To make the wig ties: in both sc corners, using white yarn, insert hook, pull up a loop, ch 30, tie off, and trim excess.
