Hi everyone! Thanks for checking out the free crochet pattern for my Faux Fur Earwarmer design. Scroll down for the free pattern and design notes!

My last quick knitting project was a Knit Faux Fur Earwarmer (the post I wrote before this one!). It was my first time working with faux fur yarn, and I realized I absolutely LOVE Lion Brand Yarn Go For Faux. I promptly went back to my local Joann Fabrics and bought another skein in Pink Poodle. I love all the colors – but it was before Valentine’s Day, and I was feeling festive, and I can’t resist the color pink. But there are a lot of colors to choose from! Anyway, I also love my knit faux fur earwarmer, but I don’t want to leave anyone out. It occurred to me that someone might want to make a twisted faux fur earwarmer but need to crochet one instead of knit! So here we are, with a crochet version of the Faux Fur Earwarmer.

This pattern is extremely easy and works up really fast! It can be tricky to find your stitches since faux fur yarn blends together so well. Just a keep a count of stitches per row and you should be all good! I completed this whole project from the first row to the last row AND sewing the ends together in about an hour while watching Netflix.

Materials Needed:

Finished Size:

18.5β€³ worked flat. To adjust the size for this pattern, measure the circumference of your head (or someone else’s) and subtract 3β€³. Repeat pattern until you reach the length of your measured circumference minus 3β€³.

Note: This pattern uses almost the entire skein of yarn – if you are making a larger size, you will need to purchase 2 skeins.

Abbreviations (US):

  • ch = chain
  • sc = single crochet

Stitches Used:

  • Single crochet. Click here for a tutorial if you are unfamiliar with this stitch.

Pattern:

Ch 6 stitches.

Row 1: Sc in 3rd stitch from hook. Sc in each stitch across. Ch 1, turn.

Row 2: Sc in 2nd stitch from hook. Sc in each stitch across. Ch 1, turn.

Repeat row 2 for a grand total of 19 rows.

Fasten off. Do not weave in ends yet.

To make the twist in the front of the earwarmer, you will need to fold the piece in half. Stagger the corners so they do not match perfectly. You will need to sew the corners together so that each set of corners is interlocking, like chain links. Click here for a photo example.

Since the yarn is so bulky, I used my fingers for this step, but you could use your crochet hook or a tapestry needle with a large eye.

I hope that you enjoy this pattern! I can’t wait to see the faux fur earwarmers you create!  Share your projects and questions with me on any of my social media.

Happy crocheting!
