This free crochet pattern transforms your goose into the cutest little cryptid, ready for both Fall and Halloween trick or treaters. It’s the perfect quick project to brighten up your porch, entryway, or school goose mascot!

Materials Needed:
- Size 5.0 mm crochet hook (I use these and these glitter hooks – they’re awesome!)
- 1 skein (198g / 7 oz, 333 meters / 364 yards) of Redheart Super Saver in black or medium weight yarn of your choice, plus scraps of medium weight red yarn
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
- Slicker Brush
Finished Measurements:
- Dress Length: about 12″
- Dress Width: about 13″ at bottom, 9.5″ middle, and 4″ at neck
- Wings: 16.75″ width, 5.5″ height
- Antennae: about 3.5″ length with fringe, about 2″ at widest
- Eyes: 2.5″
- Hat Length: 4″
- Hat Width: 6″
- Hat Ties: 8″
- Note: Outfit designed to fit 23″ porch goose.
Gauge:
- 2″ x 2″: 6 sc sts x 8 rows
- 4″ x 4″: 12 dc sts x 8 rows
- You may have to go up or down a hook size to obtain finished measurements. I recommend maintaining semi-loose/medium tension throughout.

Body:
Note: ch 1 & 2 counts as a st.
With black, make a slip knot, ch 30. Slst into 1st ch to join and make a loop.
Round 1: ch 1, loop stitch around. Slst into ch 1. (30)
Round 2: ch 2, dc around, slst into top of ch 2. (30)
Round 3: ch 1, loop st around, slst into ch 1. (30)
Round 4: ch 2, dc, 2dc in next st, (dc 2, 2dc in next st), rep () to end of round. Slst into top of ch 2. (40)
Round 5: ch 1, loop st around, slst into ch 1. (40)
Round 6: ch 2, dc 2, 2dc in next st, (dc 3, 2dc in next st), rep () to end of round. Slst into top of ch 2. (50)
Round 7: ch 1, loop st around, slst into ch 1. (50)
Round 8: ch 2, dc around, slst into top of ch 2. (50)
Round 9: ch 1, loop st around, slst into ch 1. (50)
Round 10: ch 2, dc 3, 2dc in next st, (dc 4, 2dc in next st), rep () to end of round. Slst into top of ch 2. (60)
Round 11-13: ch 2, dc in each st around, slst into top of ch 2. (60)
Optional: At the end of round 11, ch 2, and flip work so that the sts are facing right side out.
Round 14: ch 2, dc 4, 2dc in next st. (Dc 5, 2dc in next st), rep () around, slst into top of ch 2. (70)
Round 15-17: ch 2, dc in each st around, slst into top of ch 2. (70)
Round 18: ch 2, dc 5, 2dc in next st. (Dc 6, 2dc in next st), rep () around, slst into top of ch 2. (80)
Round 19-23: ch 2, dc in each st around, slst into top of ch 2. (80)
Round 24: scallop edge row – (Sk 2, 5dc in next st, sk 2, slst), rep () around. Slst last 2, slst to join. Tie off, weave in ends.
Wings:
Ch 32.
Row 1: dc in 3rd ch from hook, dc across, ch 2, turn. (30)
Row 2: 2dc in 1st st, dc across to last st, 2dc in last st, ch 2, turn. (32)
Row 3: 2dc in 1st st, dc across to last st, 2dc in last st, ch 2, turn. (34)
Row 4: 2dc in 1st st, dc across to last st, 2dc in last st, ch 2, turn. (36)
Row 5: 2dc in 1st st, dc across to last st, 2dc in last st, ch 2, turn. (38)
Row 6: 2dc in 1st st, dc across to last st, 2dc in last st, ch 2, turn. (40)
Row 7: 2dc in 1st st, dc across to last st, 2dc in last st, ch 2, turn. (42)
Row 8: 2dc in 1st st, dc across to last st, 2dc in last st, ch 2, turn. (44)
Row 9: 2dc in 1st st, dc across to last st, 2dc in last st, ch 2, turn. (46)
Row 10: 2dc in 1st st, dc across to last st, 2dc in last st. (48)
Rotate work clockwise once, so that you’re working on the edge of the piece. Yarn over, insert hook in edge between rows 9 and 10; make 5 dc sts, then slst into edge space between rows 7 and 8. Make next 5 dc scallop in edge space between rows 6 and 7. Slst in edge space between rows 4 and 5. Make next 5 dc scallop in edge space between rows 3 and 4. Slst in edge space between rows 1 and 2.
Tie off yarn and repeat on opposite edge. Weave in ends.
Cinch center of wings and secure with yarn. Sew to the top of the back of the dress, with the widest part of the wings at the top.
Hat:
Note: ch 1 does not count as a stitch.With black, make a magic ring.
Round 1: In ring, ch 1, 10 sc, slst into ch 1 to join. (10)
Round 2: ch 1, 2 sc in each st around, slst into ch 1. (20)
Round 3: ch 1, sc around, slst into ch 1. (20)
Round 4: ch 1, (sc, 2sc in next st), rep () around, slst into ch 1. (30)
Round 5: ch 1, sc around, slst into ch 1. (30)
-Switch to rows-
Row 6: ch 1, sc 20, ch 1, turn. (20) This row is the set up for the back of the hood. The 10 stitch gap is the front of the hood.
Row 7: sc in each st across, ch 1, turn (20)
Row 8: sk 1st sc, sc across to last 2, sc2tog, ch 1, turn (18)
Row 9-13: sc across, ch 1, turn (18)
Row 14: sc across, ch 1. (18)
Do not turn; instead, ch 30, tie off. Insert hook into the other edge corner, ch 30, tie off.
Antennae:
Make 2. With black, ch 9.
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, dc in next 5 chs, hdc in last. (8)
Tie off yarn, leaving a tail to attach to hat.
Cut 34 small pieces of black yarn, about 3″ in length. Add one strand in the top of each st of the antennae as you would to make a fringe, one strand in the ch 1 at the top of each antenna, and one strand in the bottom of each st (17 fringe pieces for each antenna).
Optional: Using a slicker brush, brush out the fringe until fluffy/fuzzy, and then trim into an oval shape. Attach to hat.

Optional: Use floral wire to make the antennae bendable.
Eyes:
Make 2. With red, make a magic ring.
Round 1: in ring, ch 1, make 10 sc, pull to tighten, slst into ch 1. (10)
Round 2-3: ch 1, dc in each st around, slst into ch 1. (10)
Tie off, leaving a long tail to sew to hat. Sew to front of hat as shown above.
