I have two questions for you: Do you love wine, and do you have A LOT of cotton yarn bits in your stash? If you’re like me, the answer to both of those is YES. And if that’s the case, then I have just the pattern for you!
The Wine Hugger is a sweet little stemless wine glass cozy (coozie, woozie – whatever you call them), made with Lily Sugar n Cream cotton yarn, that is so quick and easy to make. It’s great for stashbusting, making in bulk to sell at markets, gifts, or just for use on your personal wine glass collection. (I say collection because I personally have more wine glasses than regular drinking glasses. Whoops.)
I have a bunch of wine glasses that I’ve bought at Target or Marshall’s – they’re pretty, but sometimes the designs don’t withstand the test of time and going through the dishwasher frequently. But they’re still good glasses…they just lack the personality that they once had! So I decided to whip up a cozy to use with those glasses (but also every wine glass, because now that I have one, I don’t want to NOT use one!).
The Wine Hugger stemless wine glass cozy uses the arcade stitch worked in the round. If you’re new to crochet and haven’t tried an openwork stitch before, don’t be alarmed. This project is REALLY easy and only involves a two-row repeat after the initial increase rounds. It’s good experience for beginners who are practicing working in the round, new stitches, magic loops, and increasing stitches.
The other awesome thing about this wine glass cozy is that it fits just about any size stemless wine glass – all you have to do is go up or down a hook size!
