Materials Needed:
- Size 5.0 mm crochet hook (I use these and these glitter hooks – they’re awesome!)
- 1 skein (198g / 7 oz, 333 meters / 364 yards) of Redheart Super Saver in Red, scraps of medium weight green yarn
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
Finished Measurements:
- Dress Length: about 11″
- Dress Width: about 15″ at widest point
- Hat Length: About 4″
- Hat Width: About 4″
- Note: Outfit designed to fit 23″ porch goose.
Gauge:
- Varies for this project.
- You may have to go up or down a hook size to obtain finished measurements. I recommend maintaining semi-loose/medium tension throughout.

- sc = single crochet
- sc2tog = single crochet decrease

Pattern:
Tomato Body:
With red, make a slip knot, ch 30. Slst to 1st chain to join and make a loop.
Round 1: ch 2, dc in each ch around, slst into top of ch 2. (30)
Round 2: ch 2, 2dc in each st around to last st, 3dc in last st, slst into top of ch 2. (60)
Round 3: ch 2, dc in each st around, slst into top of ch 2. (60)
Round 4: ch 2, dc next st, (2dc in next st, dc 2), rep () to end of round, slst into top of ch 2. (80)
Round 5: ch 2, dc in each st around, slst into top of ch 2. (80)
Round 6: ch 2, dc in each st around, slst into top of ch 2. (80)
Round 7: ch 2, dc in each st around, slst into top of ch 2. (80)
Round 8: ch 2, dc next 2 sts, (2dc in next st, dc 3), rep () to end of round, slst into top of ch 2. (100)
Rounds 9-18: ch 2, dc in each st around, slst into top of ch 2. (100)
Round 19: ch 2, dc next 2 sts, (dc2tog, dc 3), rep () to end of round, slst into top of ch 2. (80)
Round 20: ch 2, dc next st, (dc2tog, dc 2), rep () to end of round, slst into top of ch 2. (60)
Tie off, weave in ends.
Tomato hat:
Note: ch 1 does not count as a stitch.
With red, make a magic ring.
Round 1: In ring, ch 1, 10 sc, slst into ch 1 to join. (10)
Round 2: ch 1, 2 sc in each st around, slst into ch 1. (20)
Round 3: ch 1, sc around, slst into ch 1. (20)
Round 4: ch 1, (sc, 2sc in next st), rep () around, slst into ch 1. (30)
Round 5: ch 1, sc around, slst into ch 1. (30)
-Switch to rows-
Row 6: ch 1, sc 20, ch 1, turn. (20) This row is the set up for the back of the hood. The 10 stitch gap is the front of the hood.
Row 7: sc in each st across, ch 1, turn (20)
Row 8: sk 1st sc, sc across to last 2, sc2tog, ch 1, turn (18)
Row 9-13: sc across, ch 1, turn (18)
Row 14: sc across, ch 1. (18)
Edge:
Do not turn; instead, sc along the edge of the row leading back to the first row. Sc in each sc along the top, then sc along the edge of the row on the other side. (30)
To make the ties, ch 30, tie off. Insert hook into the other edge corner, ch 30, tie off.
Leaf Base:
With green, magic ring.
Round 1: In ring, ch 1, sc 10, slst into ch 1. (10)
Round 2: (ch 8. Working back into ch, slst in 2nd ch from hook, slst next ch, sc next 2 chs, hdc last 3 chs, sk next st in round 2, slst 1), rep () to end of round. You should have 5 leaves. Tie off yarn, weave in ends.
Stem:
With green, make a slip knot, ch 6, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc across. Tie off leaving a long tail.
Attach stem to center of leaf base.
Attach stem + leaf base to hat, aligning the center of the leaf base with the center of the hat. Tie off yarn, weave in ends.
